Award-Winning Restoration

We couldn’t have been more pleased when the restoration of the Conservatory won Project of the Year Award 2009 for Historic Restorations (under $5 million). The award was granted to the San Francisco Department of Public Works by the Northern California chapter of the American Public Works Association covering 11 counties. After a busy fall and holiday season of events at the Conservatory, things quiet for public events January and the beginning of February. Take this opportunity to visit the Conservatory and grounds on your own.

Holiday Card + Ornament Making Party

Saturday, December 3, 2011, 12-3. Free

Multi-media artist and recycler Monica Lee inspired us once again our card making party. This year, she and artist Dorothy Yuki add ornaments! Check out her wonderful pictures and blog post about the day!

Gather up your old holiday cards, gift-wrap, calendars, and magazines. Lots of examples and inspiration for handmade cards and ornaments using recycled, found, salvaged and everyday materials will be provided, along with some cardstock, punches, and other notions. Check out the event’s signature origami Envelope Bar make envelopes (in all styles and shapes) out of cast-off calendar pages and books.

Children are welcome, but must be supervised by an accompanying adult. Rain or Shine!
