An Evening of Music

What a wonderful evening of classical and musical theatre songs performed by Kelsey Lauritano, Vocal Arts major at Juilliard and graduate of the Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts. Piano accompanist is Jillian Kim, student at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and SOTA 2012 alumna.

Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 7:00 PM. Admission Free, and light desserts served. Donations appreciated.

The evening is generously sponsored and organized by Ann Oglanian, CEO and President of ReGroup LLC and Friends of School of the Arts Foundation (501©3). Donations support Kelsey’s summer apprenticeship at International Meistersinger Akademie in Germany and her European debut. All donations are tax-deductible. The Friends of Sunnyside Conservatory are excited for Kelsey and pleased to spread the word about this privately-organized event.

More About Kelsey

At Juilliard, Kelsey studies with Edith Wiens and has performed in The Juilliard Opera’s productions of Cendrillon (Spirit) and The Cunning Little Vixen (Frantik). She appeared last summer at the Chautauqua Music Festival, performing in a number of recitals and in the opera productions of Don Giovanni and Dialogues des Carmélites.

In 2012, Kelsey was named a U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts by President Barack Obama, received the Silver Award in classical voice from the YoungArts Foundation, and was a finalist in the Classical Singer Competition, Mondavi Young Artists Competition, Hal Leonard Vocal Competition, and the Beach Blanket Babylon Scholarship Competition. In 2013, she won Hal Leonard Vocal Competition (University Division) in Musical Theatre.

Summer Apprenticeship

Kelsey is one of twenty young artists selected to study and perform at the International Meistersinger Akademie (IMA) in Germany this summer. IMA offers emerging artists an exceptional environment of excellence in the study of opera, oratorio and Lied/Mélodie. A prestigious staff and guest professors bring their expertise to the vocal and interpretive development of the young professional. The opening opera gala is with the Munich Radio Orchestra and three concerts are planned with the Nuremburg Symphony Orchestra. Recitals take place in Neumarkt and in Bayreuth, among them an open air concert.
